Before you update

• Use a USB data cable, not Bluetooth. Mooring works over USB only.
• Charge your iPhone or iPad and the FM-1, and keep the app open until the update finishes.
• Community firmware expects the FM-1 to be on stock firmware V15 first. Mooring can install V15 for you.
• Try Practice mode first: it runs the whole update without sending anything to a synthesizer.

Turning on a real FM-1

Mooring starts in Practice. To update a real FM-1, open Settings, turn on Real FM-1 access, and confirm. A wrong or interrupted firmware update can leave the FM-1 unusable until it is recovered with extra hardware, so read each screen before you continue.

If an update fails

Do not unplug the FM-1. Note the message Mooring shows and email mooring+website at 42fu.com. The community recovery tools are listed in Mooring's Settings under Recovery.
